The Dishwasher

Set in Montreal during the winter of 2002, this drama follows Stéphane, a nineteen-year-old graphic design student and metal music fan who aspires to be an illustrator. His life is destabilized by a gambling addiction that has left him homeless, heavily in debt, and estranged from his friends. To survive, he finds work as a dishwasher in a large Italian restaurant. While navigating the pressures of the kitchen, he interacts with a hardworking cook named Bébert and a waiter named Greg, who has a questionable reputation. The story focuses on whether Stéphane can maintain his employment or if he will continue to make destructive choices.
