Late Night with the Devil is set in 1977, during a Halloween broadcast of the late-night talk show "Night Owls." Host Jack Delroy has seen his ratings slide for a year, following the death of his wife, and he plans a special episode on the paranormal to win back viewers. His guests include a medium, a professional skeptic, a parapsychologist, and a teenage girl named Lilly, said to be the only survivor of a satanic cult's mass suicide and to be possessed by a spirit called Mr. Wiggles. What begins as entertainment increasingly unsettles both the studio audience and the people working behind the scenes as events slip beyond the host's control.
The film is an Australian, Emirati and American co-production directed by Cameron and Colin Cairnes, who also wrote the screenplay. It is a found-footage horror film presented largely as the recovered broadcast itself. David Dastmalchian, who also produced, plays Jack Delroy, with Laura Gordon as June Ross-Mitchell, Ian Bliss as Carmichael Haig, Fayssal Bazzi as Christou, Ingrid Torelli as Lilly D'Abo, and Rhys Auteri as Gus McConnell.
Made for about 1 million USD, the film took roughly 17 million USD worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 7/10 from around 145,000 votes and on TMDB 7.1/10 from about 2,284 votes. The critics' rating is 7.8/10 from 238 reviews, noticeably higher than the audience scores, suggesting reviewers responded more warmly than general viewers.
