Two driven, self-absorbed businessmen are business rivals until they learn they are identical twins who were separated long ago. They join forces and swap places, hoping to maneuver their divorced and decidedly eccentric parents back together so the three of them can be a family again. The scheme is pursued with plenty of provocation and performance along the way.
Directed by Larry Charles, the film is a musical comedy written by and starring Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson as the twins Craig and Trevor. Nathan Lane and Megan Mullally play the parents, Harris and Evelyn, while Bowen Yang appears as God and Megan Thee Stallion plays Gloria. It was produced by Chernin Entertainment with 20th Century Fox and A24, and runs 86 minutes. It arrived in 2023, the seventh feature Charles directed, following Army of One in 2016, within a filmography that also includes Borat, Religulous, Brüno and The Dictator.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.3 from around 4,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 4.4 from a much smaller pool of 64 votes, indicating limited engagement there. Critically it sits at 6 out of 10 across 110 reviews, a more favorable showing than audiences gave it. Made for 8 million dollars, it returned about 1 million worldwide, a result that points to a very narrow theatrical audience.
