Ice Age: The Meltdown

The ice is melting. Manny, Sid and Diego discover that the valley they call home will soon be flooded as the world warms and the wall of ice holding back the ocean begins to give way. With little time to spare, the three set out to warn the other animals and lead them toward higher ground at the far end of the valley. Along the way Manny meets Ellie, a mammoth who was raised by opossums and insists she is one, along with her two opossum brothers, Crash and Eddie.

The film is a sequel to Ice Age, directed by Carlos Saldanha and written by Jon Vitti, Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. It is the second of the director's features, following Gone Nutty and preceding Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Rio and its sequel, Ferdinand, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and 100 Days. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary return as the voices of Manny, Sid and Diego, with Queen Latifah joining as Ellie, Seann William Scott as Crash and Josh Peck as Eddie.

Made for around 80 million dollars, it took in roughly 661 million dollars worldwide, a strong return. On IMDb it holds 6.8 from about 317,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 from over 10,000, while the critics' average stands at 6.1 from 144 reviews, so audiences rate it somewhat more warmly than reviewers do.
