Anger Management

Dave Buznik is a mild-mannered New York businessman who prefers to avoid confrontation. On a flight, a minor misunderstanding with a flight attendant blows up into an incident, and a judge orders him to attend anger management sessions run by the eccentric Dr. Buddy Rydell. Dave doubts he belongs in the program, and it soon becomes clear that Buddy's methods are far from conventional. When the therapist moves into Dave's home as part of the treatment, the arrangement strains Dave's relationship with his girlfriend, Linda, and pushes the patient toward the very outbursts the therapy is meant to prevent.

Peter Segal directed the comedy, his fifth feature after Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult, Tommy Boy, My Fellow Americans and Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. David Dorfman wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Adam Sandler as Dave, Jack Nicholson as Buddy, and Marisa Tomei as Linda, with Luis Guzmán, Allen Covert and Lynne Thigpen in supporting roles. A large credited crew and a cast of dozens fill out the production.

Made for 75 million USD, the film took about 196 million USD worldwide, a strong return for a comedy of its size. On IMDb it holds 6.3/10 from around 241,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2/10 from roughly 3,571 votes. A critics' rating of 5.4/10 from 190 reviews puts professional assessments below the audience scores.
