Not Made for Politics

This documentary focuses on the 2020 uprising in Belarus and the struggle against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. The story follows three women—Sviatlana, Nadzeya, and Masha—who became prominent figures in the movement after their husbands were imprisoned as political prisoners. The film also examines the personal journey of the director, Volia Chajkouskaya, who lives in Estonia. Unable to return to her home country, she organized solidarity events in Tallinn and transitioned from being an observer to a participant in her own film. Through these narratives, the film explores themes of exile, repression, and the fight to overcome a legacy of fear.

The film was directed by Volia Chajkouskaya, who also served as a producer alongside Ivo Felt and Marius Markevicius. It is a joint production between companies from Estonia, France, and the United States, including Allfilm, Sorrento Productions, and Yuzu Productions. Released on November 8, 2025, the documentary has a total runtime of 89 minutes.
