Short description
After a man with extraordinary—and frighteningly destructive—telepathic abilities is nabbed by agents from a mysterious rogue corporation, he discovers he is far from the only possessor of such strange powers, and that some of the other “scanners” have their minds set on world domination, while others are trying to stop them.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The idea for the film was suggested by one of the chapters of William S. Burroughs' novel "Naked Lunch," which mentions an organization of telepaths obsessed with the idea of world domination.
  • Dick Smith, a master known for his work on "The Exorcist," did the makeup.
  • Filming took place from October 30, 1979, to December 23, 1979.
  • In the scene where the head explodes, a latex dummy was used, filled with dog food, lunch leftovers, fake blood, and rabbit liver. During filming, a 12-gauge shotgun was fired at this dummy.
  • The idea for the painting was suggested by one of the chapters of William S. Burroughs’ novel “The Naked Lunch,” which mentions an organization of telepaths obsessed with the idea of world domination.
  • Dick Smith did the makeup, a master renowned for his work on “The Exorcist.”
