Lift

Lift is an action crime film about a professional thief, Cyrus Whitaker, who leads a team of experienced criminals in an attempt to steal half a billion dollars in gold from a safe aboard a passenger plane flying at around forty thousand feet. The scheme demands that the crew pull off the robbery mid-flight, which sets up the central conflict between the plan and the obstacles standing in its way.

F. Gary Gray directed the film, working from a screenplay by Daniel Kunka. It sits toward the end of a run of features Gray has made since the mid-1990s, following films such as Friday, Set It Off, The Negotiator, The Italian Job, Straight Outta Compton and Men in Black: International. Kevin Hart plays Cyrus and also produced alongside Simon Kinberg and Matt Reeves. The cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sam Worthington, Vincent D'Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó and Jean Reno, with forty-one credited performers in total.

The film runs 107 minutes and blends action with comedy, crime and drama across a United States production. Audience response has been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 52,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 out of 10 from about 1,500 votes, indicating a somewhat warmer reception among that site's users than among IMDb's larger voter base.
