Música

Rudy Mancuso directs and stars in Música, a 2024 comedy, music and romance film set in the Ironbound neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey. Rudy is a street performer and puppeteer with synesthesia, a condition that turns the everyday sounds around him into complex rhythms only he experiences. As he drifts through college classes and performances for commuters, he struggles to decide what to do with his life. His girlfriend Haley wants reassurance about their future, while his mother Maria pushes him toward a nice Brazilian girl from the neighborhood and away from Haley. Advice arrives from his friend Anwar, and then Rudy meets Isabella, a Brazilian woman working at a local fish market, leaving him caught between two relationships and the expectations of family and culture.

The film was written by Dan Lagana and Rudy Mancuso, produced by McG and Mary Viola, and made by Wonderland Sound and Vision, Amazon MGM Studios and Shots Studios. It runs 91 minutes. The cast includes Camila Mendes as Isabella, Francesca Reale as Haley, Maria Mancuso as Maria, JB Smoove as Anwar and Andy Grotelueschen as Professor, with 28 credited cast members in all. It is Mancuso's feature directorial debut. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 from 142 votes, indicating a modest but generally positive response from those who have seen it.
