Short description
When the denizens of Littlehampton – including conservative Edith – begin receiving letters full of hilarious profanities, rowdy Irish migrant Rose is charged with the crime. Suspecting something amiss, the town's women band together to investigate.
What's left behind the scenes
- Screenwriter Johnny Sweet always envisioned actress Olivia Colman in the role of Idie. Colman happily accepted the offer to play Idie.
- The episode in which Jessie Buckley, as Rose Gooding, shows the police chasing her a bare bottom was an improvisation by the actress.
- The film's script is based on real events, however, the postscript states that Edith was sentenced to 12 months of community service, and no charges were ever brought against Rose, which contradicts the truth. According to sources, Edith was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment after two court hearings, while Rose was tried twice and found guilty, initially receiving a sentence of 10 days and later 4 months of community service as a result of Edith's deliberate actions.
