Gran Turismo
Short description
Gran Turismo is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a young British fan of the racing simulation video game Gran Turismo. His skill at the game earns him a place in a Nissan competition that turns virtual drivers into real racers, and he sets out to prove himself on actual tracks under the guidance of a former driver, Jack Salter, with a motorsport marketing executive, Danny Moore, behind the programme. His father, Steve, and those close to him watch as he pursues the goal.
The film was directed by Neill Blomkamp and written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. It followed Demonic in Blomkamp's filmography and came before NIGHTBORNE. Archie Madekwe plays Jann, with David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Djimon Hounsou, Darren Barnet and Maeve Courtier-Lilley in supporting roles. Produced by Columbia Pictures, 2.0 Entertainment and PlayStation Productions, it cost about 60 million dollars and took roughly 122 million dollars worldwide.
On IMDb it holds 7.1 out of 10 from around 134,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.7 out of 10 from roughly 3,580 votes, both indicating generally positive audience responses. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from about 230 reviews places professional assessments somewhat below those audience scores. The film runs 135 minutes.
