This documentary follows Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, a Nepali climber who aimed to reach the summit of Mount Everest in the early 1990s. Despite lacking a formal education and facing cultural barriers, she established a trekking business in Kathmandu and made four attempts to conquer the mountain. Her journey placed her in conflict with her family, government officials, and international climbers during a period of political change in Nepal and the growth of commercial mountaineering. The film uses accounts from Pasang herself and other climbers to detail her efforts to become a pioneer for women in her country.
Directed by Nancy Svendsen and produced by Sharon Wood, Richard Levien, and Christy McGill, the film was produced in the United States by Mila Productions and the Follow Your Dream Foundation. It features appearances by Marc Batard and Pasang Lhamu Sherpa. Released on January 19, 2024, the film has a runtime of 71 minutes.
