Theater Camp

Theater Camp is set at AdirondACTS, a ramshackle theater camp in upstate New York where young performers spend their summers. When Joan, the founder who has kept the place going, falls into a coma just as the season is about to begin, the camp's future is thrown into doubt. Her son Troy, a tech-minded outsider with no feel for the stage, is left in charge, and the eccentric teachers and staff have to work with him, alongside the students, to keep the camp running and put on a show that might secure its survival.

The comedy is directed by Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman, from a screenplay they wrote with Ben Platt and Noah Galvin. Gordon and Platt also star as two of the camp's instructors, with Galvin, Jimmy Tatro, Caroline Aaron and Ayo Edebiri among the cast. The film is rooted in the shared stage background of its creators, and its humor comes largely from the collision between theater-kid earnestness and Troy's business instincts.

Released in July 2023, the film earned a critics' rating of 7.3/10 from 181 reviews, while audiences gave it 6.9/10 on IMDb and 6.5/10 on TMDB, a sign that reviewers responded more warmly than general viewers. Against a budget of 5 million USD, it took in about 4 million USD worldwide.
