Northern Comfort

Northern Comfort is a comedy about a group of people with a chronic fear of flying who enroll in a high-end course to overcome their phobia. The group includes a career-driven woman, a property developer, a social media influencer, and a special forces veteran. Their training culminates in a trial flight from London to Iceland led by an inexperienced instructor. The journey goes wrong due to technical issues and poor weather, leaving the passengers stranded in the cold Icelandic landscape. To survive the ordeal and find their way home, the mismatched characters must cooperate and face their anxieties.

The film was directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Tobias Munthe and Halldór Laxness Halldórsson. The cast features Lydia Leonard, Timothy Spall, Ella Rumpf, Simon Manyonda, Emun Elliott, and Sverrir Gudnason. Produced by Film4 Productions, ZDF, and ARTE, the project was a joint effort between Germany, the United Kingdom, Iceland, and France.
