Short description

SpongeBob aims to prove his maturity and bravery to Mr. Krabs by pursuing the Flying Dutchman, a ghostly pirate. This journey takes the character and his companions from Bikini Bottom into the deepest parts of the ocean. While SpongeBob and Patrick explore these depths, Mr. Krabs and Squidward follow them in an attempt to bring him home safely.

The film was directed by Derek Drymon, following his work on Santa's Little Helpers, Monster Pets: A Hotel Transylvania Short, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, and Minions & More Volume 1. The voice cast features Tom Kenny, Mark Hamill, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, and Brian Doyle-Murray. The production involved Paramount, Reel FX Creative Studios, MRC, and Nickelodeon Movies.

Produced with a budget of 64 million USD, the movie earned 163 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.7/10 on IMDb based on 7,600 votes and a higher score of 6.8/10 on TMDB from 356 votes.
