Short description
A down-on-his-luck American Indian recently released from jail is offered the chance to "star" as the victim of a snuff film, the resulting pay of which could greatly help his poverty stricken family.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the eponymous novella by Gregory Macdonald.
- Marlon Brando himself suggested Johnny as a candidate for the role of McCarthy.
- In the bathroom where Raphael (Depp) hides the money, the phrase 'Find them. Kill em. Fuck em. Eat them' can be read on the wall. Larry (Marshall Bell) repeats it some time later.
- Throughout the film, mysterious drawings can be observed on walls, fences, and other surfaces: question marks with crosses instead of dots, as well as amusing faces. Moreover, one question mark is tattooed on Raphael's (Depp's) arm – this is noticeable in the scene where he talks to his son towards the end of the film.
