What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot on a student grant over several years.
- Peter Jackson, the film's director, plays two roles: a bespectacled man (Derek) and one of the bearded aliens (Robert).
- All the weapons in the film are made from aluminum pipes, and the alien masks were baked in Peter Jackson's mother's oven.
