Sound director Matis Rei was born on November 21, 1988 in Kuressaare. Graduated from Kuressaare High School in 2008. Studied sound direction at the Baltic Film and Media School of Tallinn University (BA 2011), then continued his studies at the National Film and Television School in England (MA 2015).
