What's left behind the scenes
- Dominic West was initially cast as Kim Philby, but he later declined the role due to pandemic-related restrictions. To some extent, his decision to leave the project was also influenced by his commitment to filming the series 'The Crown'.
- Elliott, the protagonist's friend played by Damian Lewis, attributed Philby's success as a double agent to his exceptional ability to connect with people. Philby himself explained to the KGB that they failed to identify him as a secret agent for so long because, in his view, the British ruling class could not conceive that someone like him, raised among the elite, could turn against the system and start working for the communists.
