What's left behind the scenes

  • In 2012, screenwriter Andy Breckman wrote two versions of a script for a film about Monk's return. In one, it was proposed that Monk would remarry and move to France, where his new wife would try to kill him. In the second plot version, it was proposed that Monk would run for mayor of San Francisco to help Molly with an investigation into corruption within the city administration. Ultimately, due to financial considerations, both of these ideas were abandoned.
  • Stanley Camel died of a heart attack, both in real life and in the series.
