What's left behind the scenes
- Director Tom Holland (as Harker) and writer Stephen King (as Mr. Tom Holby, a board chairman from Craig Toomey's hallucination) appear in supporting roles in the film.
- The movie was filmed at Bangor International Airport (Maine) and Los Angeles International Airport (California).
- Frankie Faison (Don Gaffney) had previously appeared as Handy in the film Maximum Overdrive (1986), a project directed by Stephen King based on his short story 'Trucks'.
- The book featured a Boeing 767, whereas the film shows a Lockheed L-1011, which had already been taken out of production by that time.
- The miniseries is based on Stephen King's novella The Langoliers (1990).
- During the first landing scene, the pilot is wearing headphones, but when the camera shows him from behind, they disappear, only to reappear in the next shot.
