What's left behind the scenes

  • The sound processing and makeup for the miniseries were handled by different people than those responsible for these areas in the series 'Farscape' (1999-2003), the first installment of the franchise, although the actors remained the same. The makeup changed, and the changes were not for the better. Melissa Yaffer appeared in only a few scenes before being forced to stop filming due to an allergic reaction to the new makeup. An attempt was made to use a body double in her place (with Yaffer providing the voiceover), but the overall result was unsatisfactory, and this method had to be abandoned midway through filming.
  • This was Jonathan Hardy's final television role. He passed away on July 30, 2012, at the age of 71.
  • The only regular cast member from the 'Farscape' series (1999-2003) who was absent from the 2004 miniseries cast was Virginia Hey. Her character appears on screen only briefly in archival footage.
  • When Crichton is interrogated and explains the predicament he is in, he mentions that this is the 89th time this has happened to him. This is a reference to the actor Ben Browder's earlier comments regarding the 88 episodes of the 'Farscape' series (1999-2003).
  • The pregnancy of Rebecca Riggs' character was written into the script after it was discovered that the actress was expecting a child. Until that point, there had been no mention of pregnancy in the script.
  • In the original script, Grunchlk, played by Hugh Keays-Byrne, was written as the Scarran spy. Wayne Pygram, the actor who played Harvey, suggested making Sikosa, played by Raleigh Hill, the spy instead.
