What's left behind the scenes

  • Aquaman and characters from his comics are absent from the final season because work had already begun on the pilot episode of an animated project for another channel. The villain Black Manta remained in the series, but to avoid copyright issues, his name was changed to Sea Devil.
  • The Suicide Squad is called "Task Force X" in the series, as the word "suicide" is not appropriate for a children's audience.
  • Black Canary and Zatanna go without their famous fishnet stockings in the series, as it proved impossible to depict them properly in animation. The characters wear ordinary gray stockings instead.
  • In the final season, Supergirl appears in a new costume that more closely resembles that of her cousin, Superman. In reality, producer Bruce Timm ordered the change because he considered her previous outfit old-fashioned.
  • Almost from the very beginning of the second season, the producers had to do without many characters from the Batman comic series (with the exception of Batman himself), as well as villains who had not appeared in the 'Batman: The Animated Series' (1992-1995). This happened because a new 'Batman' animated series (2004-2008) was beginning its run on another channel.
