Short description

The adventures of superhero Darkwing Duck, aided by his sidekick Launchpad McQuack. In his secret identity of Drake Mallard, he lives in a suburban house with his adopted daughter Gosalyn, next door to the bafflingly dim-witted Muddlefoot family. A spin-off of DuckTales.

What's left behind the scenes

  • At one time, it was proposed to call the animated series "Dax 00," but it turned out that the "00" combination was patented by Ian Fleming (1908-1964), and at that time, the rights were held by Albert R. Broccoli (1909-1996), best known as the producer of the James Bond 007 film series.
  • The creators of the animated series openly admitted that they conceived the project as a parody of the Batman franchise, specifically Tim Burton's 1989 film starring Michael Keaton. Initially, they even planned to give their hero a sidekick (similar to Batman's Robin) and a butler (like Alfred). However, it was decided not to make such a blatant emphasis on the subject of the parody, and they decided to abandon these characters. Both were replaced by Zigzag.
  • Some episodes were produced but never released. It is claimed that one of them, produced in 1991, was pulled from broadcast due to a parody of Spider-Man. One episode from 1992 aired only once; in it, one of the villains sold Darkwing Duck's soul to the devil.
  • Zigzag became the first Disney animated character to appear in two different series. Originally, Zigzag McDuck was one of the characters in the animated series "DuckTales" (1987).
