What's left behind the scenes
- The Hungarian actor who voiced Piccolo initially spoke in a very raspy voice, believing he would be a minor character. To his surprise, Piccolo became one of the main characters. Furthermore, voicing him with a raspy voice for a long period actually helped the actor cure a throat ailment.
- The character Goku is based on the Monkey King from Chinese mythology. Like his prototype, he uses a flying cloud and a staff that can extend in length.
- In addition to the 153 episodes and 4 movies, there are 2 more "lost" episodes. These are educational films covering road safety and fire prevention. They were never released in the US, but are present in the Japanese editions.
