Short description
The Kingdom is the most technologically advanced hospital in Denmark, a gleaming bastion of medical science. A rash of uncanny occurrences, however, begins to weaken the staff's faith in science – a phantom ambulance pulls in every night, but disappears; voices echo in the elevator shaft; and a pregnant doctor's fetus seems to be developing much faster than is natural.

What's left behind the scenes
- The dishwashers in the first season had to be dubbed because the actors couldn't deliver the lines exactly as the authors intended.
- The building that Dr. Stig Helger viewed through binoculars from the hospital roof is a Swedish nuclear power plant. Due to its proximity to Copenhagen, the NPP was often a source of friction between the two nations until it was closed in 2005.
- Ernst-Hugo Jaregård did not have a driver's license and drove a car only once in his life—during the filming of this series.
