What's left behind the scenes
- David E. Kelley suggested making the character played by Alfred Molina British. He reasoned that it would be easier for the actor to perform using his usual pronunciation and that it would further emphasize the difference between Molina's character and his employees.
- Producer and writer David E. Kelley initially offered the role eventually played by Alfred Molina to Anthony Heald, but Heald was busy in the theater and felt the character was too similar to the one he played in the series "Boston Public" (2000-2004). Following this, Kelley found another role for Heald.
