Short description
Notorious serial killer Joe Carroll, after being found guilty of murdering 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature, escapes from death row. The FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy to consult on the case, as he was the one responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003. Ryan, working closely with an FBI team, including Mike Weston and FBI Specialist Debra Parker, piece together the ever-growing web of murders orchestrated by the devious Carroll.

What's left behind the scenes
- In the original plot version, the main cast included agent Jennifer Mason, played by Jenanne Goossen in the pilot episode. Later, this character was completely removed from the series and replaced by agent Debra Parker, for which Annie Parriss was cast.
- The twins Luke and Mark are played by British actor Sam Underwood in Season 2. Every scene featuring both twins had to be filmed twice and subsequently merged. In some scenes, stunt double Shan Agish was used.
- The serial killer is named Joe Carroll. This same first and last name was used as a pseudonym by a London maniac who operated with an axe and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011.
