Short description

This hidden-camera series follows four lifelong friends -- Brian "Q"' Quinn, James "Murr"' Murray, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano -- who take dares to an outrageous level. To find out who is best under pressure, the guys compete in awkward and outrageous hidden-camera hijinks with the loser performing what is deemed to be the most-mortifying challenge yet.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In some cases, the characters went too far. This refers to pranks where one of the main characters used someone else's camera to take photos of his own underwear, another got so close to strangers on a beach that they complained about their personal space being violated, and a third photographed someone else's credit card (these scenes did not make it into the series).
  • Joe Gatto decided to leave the Tenderloins troupe a couple of weeks before the members came up with the idea that would later evolve into the series 'Impractical Jokers.' Brian Quinn and Sal Vulcano convinced him to return.
  • Joe Gatto and James C. Murray once lived in the same apartment.
  • The first prank pulled by the main characters is shown in episode 14 of the first season.
  • Joe Gatto and James C. Murray were the only married members of the troupe. On December 31, 2021, Gatto and his wife Bessie announced their divorce. It is claimed that this circumstance is what prompted Gatto to leave the troupe. The tenth season was the first to be filmed without one of the troupe members.
  • Sal Vulcano, James C. Murray, and Brian Quinn have tattoos—the result of a prank devised by Joe Gatto. He also chose the specific tattoos that the others had to get. Vulcano, for example, ended up with a tattoo of Jaden Smith on his leg.
  • At one time, Sal Vulcano owned a bar on Staten Island. When the business began to go downhill, Vulcano decided to devote all his time to pranks.
  • In an episode titled "Wrong Playwright," it is claimed that Brian Quinn dumped his girlfriend right on the eve of their wedding. In reality, he left her by secretly fleeing the apartment they shared together at three in the morning. He took only a statuette he had been given and left everything else behind. He never saw the girl again.
  • While preparing for the filming of one of the episodes, the cast found themselves in the basement of a pet store while the crew was setting up equipment upstairs. James C. Murray made a bet and ate dog feces for $290. This moment was captured on camera and was shown during a live performance by The Tenderloins.
  • In 1988, James C. Murray filmed a movie called "Damned!", in which Jesus Christ was portrayed as a teenager in the modern world. In the episode "Damned If You Do," Murray had to review his creation (he was clearly embarrassed during the viewing), after which he had to loudly admit his authorship and answer several questions about the film. It is unknown whether the film had ever been shown to the public before.
