What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, the plan was to cast only American actors for the series without involving anyone from the British original. However, David Tennant was allowed to audition when they were casting for the role of Detective Carver (a counterpart to the role he played in the British series 'Wire in the Blood'). During the audition, Tennant fit the role far more naturally than any of the American actors who tried out.
- The American remake has 10 episodes, although the first season of the British original consisted of 8. This is because the creators of the British series originally filmed 10 episodes, but the ITV corporation dug their heels in and only approved the airing of eight. In the US, the Fox network allowed the remake's creators to decide for themselves how many episodes to film, and they decided to include events from the two unaired episodes of the British original.
