What's left behind the scenes
- The series is based on events—somewhat reworked—from the life of its creator, Jill Soloway, whose father came out three years before the series premiered.
- The show's creator and mastermind originally intended to cast Jeffrey Tambor in the role of Maura.
- The English title of the series, "Transparent," is a play on words. On one hand, it refers to Maura's self-awareness. On the other, the word can be broken down into "trans," short for "transgender," and "parent."
