What's left behind the scenes
- Jughead's headwear is a more modern version of what he usually wore in the comics. In those, the character wore a felt hat with trimmed brims—the latest fashion trend among American teenagers in the early 20th century.
- The titles of all episodes in the first season are borrowed from movies.
- Initially, it was a project for the FOX network, but it later moved to The CW, which already had experience adapting comics for the screen.
- The series is based on a series of comics and their spin-offs from Archie Comic Publications, Inc., featuring artist Bob Montana and editor (and one of the publisher's founders) John Leonard Goldwater.
- The series features the same cafe that appeared in Alexandre Aja's fantasy thriller Horns (2013).
- KJ Apa is originally from New Zealand. On set, it was discovered that he speaks completely without an accent.
- On the gates of the Blossom estate, one can read the Latin motto Radices currere abyssi, which translates as "Roots run deep."
- The series was filmed in the outskirts of Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
- Cole Sprouse's first cinematic project after taking a break from his acting career to complete a degree in archaeology at New York University.
- For the 12th episode, where the identity of Jason's killer is revealed, several different endings were filmed to confuse the actors and thereby prevent leaks to the press and social media.
- In the final episode of Season 1, Archie breaks through ice with his fist to save Cheryl. KJ Apa suffered a hand injury while filming this scene.
