What's left behind the scenes

In scenes where Neil Jackson's character consumes alcohol, the actor drinks water (or iced tea if the plot requires him to drink whiskey).
Stane Katik had to learn how to perform stunts and master new skills—for example, operating a boat and enduring icy water.
Patrick McAlone is British, and a specially invited linguist from Los Angeles worked with him on his American accent. Before filming began, the young actor had never been to the USA.
The atmosphere of the series proved to be so oppressive that between takes, the actors fooled around as much as they could just to unwind and lift their spirits.
The series features an international cast. Among the many British and American actors are, in particular, Bruno Bichir from Mexico and Ángel Bunani from Uruguay.
To play the role of a Boston detective, Ángel Bunani had to be trained in weapons handling. The actor watched a vast amount of documentary footage regarding police work.
Up-and-coming actress Kara Theobald had to work hard to tame the dog playing Duranov's pet. A dog trainer specifically gave the actress pieces of cheese and dog treats (the dog's favorite snacks) so that the dog would follow her around the house.
Some episodes of the series were filmed in catacombs located in Bulgaria.
Filming the series was extremely difficult, as all 10 episodes were being worked on simultaneously across different sets. The series was shot like a movie, with filming lasting over three months during the cold season.
