What's left behind the scenes
- The series is set in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but filming there would have been too dangerous. Scenes in the jungle and remote locations were shot in the KwaZulu-Natal bantustan in South Africa, while indoor scenes were filmed in Cape Town. This is why the cars in this former British colony are right-hand drive, just as they are in the UK.
