Two teenage shepherds are attacked while grazing their flock in the mountains. One of them is killed; the other, fourteen years old, survives and is forced to carry a message and a macabre burden back to his family. His grieving relatives set out to restore the family's honour, while the boy embarks on a painful passage towards adulthood. The story, set in the Tunisian mountains among armed extremists, is a blend of crime drama and dreamlike inner journey.
Red Path is the second feature directed by Lotfi Achour, following Father in 2014. Achour wrote the screenplay together with Natacha de Pontcharra and Doria Achour. The film is a co-production involving Belgium, Qatar, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and France, produced by Anissa Daoud and Sébastien Hussenot through Versus Production, La Luna Productions, ShipsBoy and APA.
Released in April 2025, the film runs 101 minutes and was made on a budget of about one million dollars. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.4 out of 10 from 11 votes, a small sample that points to a modest but favourable response from those who have seen it.
