Set during the Second World War in Ukraine, the story follows Hugo, a Jewish boy who is hidden away to avoid deportation. His mother, Yulia, entrusts him to Mariana, a friend who works in a brothel. For a significant period, Hugo remains confined to a small space, where he relies on his imagination and the sounds filtering through the walls to understand the conflict and adult world outside. Over time, Mariana begins to bring him out of hiding, forming a deep bond with the boy and altering the course of his life.
The film was written and directed by Emmanuel Finkiel, marking the first of two films he has directed as of 2026. The cast features Mélanie Thierry as Mariana and Artem Kyryk as Hugo, alongside Anastasia Fein, Julia Goldberg, Olena Khokhlatkina, and Minou Monfared.
