Set in Beirut during the 1982 civil war, the film follows Georges, an idealistic theater director who travels to Lebanon to fulfill a promise to a friend. He attempts the risky task of staging a production of Antigone on the front lines, casting actors from opposing religious and political factions to create a temporary moment of peace. While navigating a conflict he does not understand with the help of a guide named Marwan, Georges falls in love with Imane and is forced to confront the harsh realities of war as fighting intensifies.
The drama was written and directed by David Oelhoffen, following his previous films Close Enemies and The Last Men. The production was a joint effort between Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, featuring a cast led by Laurent Lafitte, Simon Abkarian, and Manal Issa. A total of 34 actors and 52 crew members are credited in the production.
Produced on a budget of 3 million USD, the movie has received moderate to positive responses from viewers. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.2/10 based on 288 votes, while on TMDB it has a slightly higher rating of 7/10 from 50 votes.
