Short description
Ashley Albright is a young public relations professional in Manhattan who has always led a charmed life; everything seems to go her way. Jake Hardin is her opposite, a struggling music manager whose plans keep falling apart. The two meet at a masquerade ball, and a kiss between them appears to transfer Ashley's good fortune to Jake, leaving her to cope with the misfortunes that once followed him. Jake, meanwhile, hopes to use his change in luck to get a record producer to notice the rock band he has discovered.
Donald Petrie directed the film, which came after Welcome to Mooseport in his filmography and was followed by My Life in Ruins and Little Italy. I. Marlene King and Amy Harris wrote the screenplay, and Arnon Milchan, Petrie and Arnold Rifkin produced it. Lindsay Lohan plays Ashley and Chris Pine plays Jake, with Samaire Armstrong, Bree Turner, Faizon Love and Missi Pyle in supporting roles.
Released on May 12, 2006, the film runs 103 minutes. It had a budget of 28 million dollars and took about 38 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. What's left behind the scenes
- The McFly concert scene at Times Square was filmed in the UK, where the musicians played for their fans. The band played songs for the film, and when changes to the lighting or camera positions were needed, they entertained the audience with other songs.
- Those purchasing tickets to the McFly performance were informed that a film would be shot during the concert. This was done to prevent people from bringing souvenirs or banners, as the plot required the performance to appear as if it were by an unknown band.
- Ashley's hair dryer breaks, causing the circuit breaker to trip. The heroine's hair suddenly becomes dry, even though it was just wet.
