Molli and Max in the Future is a science fiction romantic comedy about a woman and a man whose paths keep crossing over roughly a dozen years, across several planets and dimensions, with a space cult figuring into their story. Max holds that people are capable of change, while Molli does not, and the two spend years testing their opposing views against each other. A dystopian future provides the backdrop, and the film mixes comedy and romance with its science fiction setting.
The film runs 93 minutes and was written and directed by Michael Lukk Litwak. It is a US production from Choreografx, Deverge, Senior Post and Whiskey Bear, with Kate Geller, Candice Kuwahara and Mallory Schwartz producing. Zosia Mamet plays Molli and Aristotle Athari plays Max, heading a cast of 24 that also includes Arturo Castro, Okieriete Onaodowan, Erin Darke and Paloma Garcia-Lee.
Released in February 2024, the film has a modest audience following rather than a broad one. On IMDb it holds a 6.4 rating from around 1,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from a much smaller sample of 23 votes. The two scores are close, suggesting viewers who have found the film generally regard it with mild approval.
