Suncoast

Suncoast is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story set in the early 2000s. A teenager named Doris lives with her strong-willed mother, Kristine, and helps care for her seriously ill brother. When he is moved into a specialist facility, Doris finds herself navigating unfamiliar surroundings and a complicated family situation. There she forms an unexpected friendship with Paul, an eccentric activist involved in protests connected to a major medical case of the era. The film balances Doris's experiences as a young woman finding her own path against the weight of her family's circumstances.

The film is written and directed by Laura Chinn, marking her feature directorial debut, and produced by Kevin Chinoy, Francesca Silvestri and Oly Obst. Nico Parker plays Doris, with Laura Linney as Kristine and Woody Harrelson as Paul. Supporting roles include Daniella Taylor, Ella Anderson and Amarr M. Wooten.
