Ravenous

Set in the 1840s during the Mexican-American War, Ravenous follows Captain John Boyd, who is decorated for a daring act he knows to be something quite different. Rather than a promotion, he receives a posting to a remote fort in the Sierra Nevada, where he joins a small, isolated garrison. When a starving, half-frozen stranger named Colqhoun arrives with a story about a wagon train whose guide led the travelers into disaster, Boyd and the others set out into the wilderness to learn whether the tale is true, and the question of who the real threat is becomes central.

Antonia Bird directed the film, her fourth feature after Mad Love, Priest and Face. Ted Griffin wrote the screenplay, and Adam Fields and David Heyman produced. Guy Pearce plays Boyd, with Robert Carlyle as Colqhoun, alongside David Arquette, Jeremy Davies, Jeffrey Jones and John Spencer.

Made for about 12 million dollars, the film earned roughly 2 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.9/10 from around 46,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.8/10 from about 721 votes. A film critics' rating of 6.1/10 from 64 reviews sits below both audience scores.
