The Deal

Tom Hanson is a Wall Street analyst who becomes involved in a deal involving a Russian oil company. When a close friend who had been leading work on the transaction is found dead, Tom takes on the investigation with a young economics graduate, Abbey Gallagher. Their inquiry takes them into a world of illegal oil trading, organised crime and government cover-ups, and the two grow close as the case deepens. The film is set against an oil shortage caused by war in the Middle East, and Tom's findings put both of them in danger.

The Deal is a Canadian-American crime thriller directed by Harvey Kahn and written by Ruth Epstein, with Kahn producing alongside Robert Lee and Sheri Elowsky. Christian Slater and Selma Blair lead the cast as Tom and Abbey, supported by Robert Loggia, Colm Feore, Angie Harmon and John Heard. It runs 107 minutes and was released in June 2005.
