Short description
D-Tox follows Jake Malloy, an FBI agent who has retreated into alcohol after a traumatic killing. His colleague Detective Hendricks sends him to a remote rehabilitation clinic in the Wyoming wilderness, a facility reserved for law enforcement officers struggling with addiction and depression. When a snowstorm isolates the clinic, patients begin dying one by one, and Malloy comes to suspect that the killer is among them.
The film is directed by Jim Gillespie, his second feature after I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and before Venom (2005) and Take Down (2016). Sylvester Stallone stars as Malloy, with Polly Walker as Jenny, Charles S. Dutton as Hendricks, Kris Kristofferson as Doc, Christopher Fulford as Slater and Jeffrey Wright as Jaworski. Ron L. Brinkerhoff and Howard Swindle wrote the screenplay for the German-American production. With a budget of 55 million dollars, the film returned only about 7 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 5.3 rating from roughly 31,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.6 from around 741 votes, a modest audience response. Critics were harsher, giving it 3.7 out of 10 across 22 reviews, well below the viewer scores.

- Filming took place in the USA and Canada from January 25 to May 23, 1999.
- Work on the film was completed in 1999, and the film company “Universal Pictures” decided to conduct preliminary screenings to gauge audience reaction. The audience's reaction to the first version of the film was overwhelmingly negative, and the film was sent for rework (reshooting some scenes and making changes to the storyline). An alternate ending was filmed. Preliminary screenings of the new version followed, the reviews were still sharply negative, and only three years after filming ended was the film released in limited release.
