Two neighboring French villages, Longueverne and Velrans, are locked in a long-standing conflict fought by armies of schoolboys. These children engage in battles where the primary goal is to capture clothing items, such as buttons, from the opposing side as trophies. This rivalry escalates when Lebrac, a leader from Longueverne, suggests that his soldiers enter combat without clothes to avoid the humiliation of losing their buttons.
