Short description
The story takes us back to 1930 and centres around Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, an Airmail pilot in Argentina. When his best friend who happens to be Airmail’s best pilot Henri Guillaumet disappears in the Andes, Saint-Ex decides to set out in search of him, against all odds. This impossible quest forces him to push beyond his limits, turning his capacity to dream into his greatest strength...

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on real events that occurred with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Henri Guillaumet in 1930, when they worked for the French airline "Aéropostale," which carried out international airmail services.
  • The film's director, Pablo Agüero, was born in Argentina and grew up at the foot of the Andes—in the very places Saint-Exupéry flew over in search of his missing friend Henri Guillaumet.
  • Vincent Cassel and Louis Garrel are friends in real life.
  • Filming lasted with interruptions for almost two years, about a year and a half of which was spent on location shooting.
  • Location shooting took place in the Andes in extreme conditions and hard-to-reach places – during blizzards and at an altitude of 5000 m. The creators decided to abandon computer technology and film real views. In low temperatures, the equipment froze, so the film crew invented ways to heat the batteries.
  • As a child, Antoine tried to create a flying machine from an old bicycle, plywood, wire, and sheets. The recreated "aero-bicycle" can be seen in the film when Saint-Exupéry remembers his brother.
