All of Me

A wealthy, headstrong woman named Edwina Cutwater is dying and determined not to let that end her plans. She arranges for her soul to be moved into the body of a younger woman, Terry Hoskins, using a technique brought by a guru. The lawyer handling her affairs, Roger Cobb, is drawn into the arrangement, and when the transfer goes wrong, Edwina's spirit ends up sharing Roger's body rather than Terry's. The two of them are left fighting for control of the same man, with Roger's life and Edwina's fortune both hanging on how they resolve it.

Carl Reiner directed the film, which came after The Man with Two Brains in his sequence of features and before Summer Rental. Phil Alden Robinson wrote the screenplay, and Stephen J. Friedman produced. Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin lead the cast as Roger and Edwina, with Victoria Tennant, Madolyn Smith Osborne, Richard Libertini and Dana Elcar among the supporting players; thirty performers are credited in all.

Released in September 1984, the film runs 93 minutes and is a comedy with fantasy and romance elements, made in the United States by Universal Pictures, Kings Road Entertainment and Old Times Productions. It took in about 36 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 40 reviews, while on TMDB its audience rating is 6.5 out of 10 from 389 votes, a gap that suggests reviewers responded to it more warmly than the broader viewing public did.
