The Adventurers

The Adventurers is an American action drama set in Corteguay, a fictional South American country where power changes hands through coups and revolutions. Dax Xenos, the son of a diplomat from a wealthy background, is sent to Europe as a boy and grows into a privileged playboy leading an amoral life abroad. When his father is assassinated on the orders of President Rojo, a man who was once his father's friend and whose rise to power his father had helped secure, Dax returns home intending to lead a revolution and take revenge. Once involved, he finds the political situation is not as clear-cut as he believed. The film is based on Harold Robbins's bestselling novel and was directed by Lewis Gilbert, who also produced and co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Hastings.
