Set in 1654 in the south of France, the story centres on Eloïse d'Artagnan, daughter of the famous musketeer, who lives in a convent. When the Mother Superior is killed, Eloïse suspects the crime is part of a conspiracy against the crown and travels to Paris to persuade her father to act. D'Artagnan, grown weary and indifferent, hesitates, and she sets out largely on her own, drawn into intrigue and a romance along the way. The film follows her efforts to uncover the plot and the eventual involvement of her father and his old companions.
Bertrand Tavernier directed, working from a screenplay by Michel Léviant, with Véronique Bourboulon producing. It came after Daddy Nostalgia (1990) in Tavernier's filmography and before Safe Conduct (2002), and it shifts toward period swashbuckling comedy rather than the contemporary dramas of his earlier career. Sophie Marceau plays Eloïse, with Philippe Noiret as D'Artagnan; the cast also includes Claude Rich as the Duke of Crassac, Sami Frey as Aramis, Jean-Luc Bideau as Athos and Raoul Billerey as Porthos. The film runs 125 minutes.
Made in France with Canal+ among its production companies, it is an action-adventure comedy released in August 1994. On IMDb it holds a rating of about 5.8 from roughly 3,700 votes, and on TMDB it sits near 5.7 from around 136 votes, indicating modest and limited audience approval.
