Rob Peace

Rob Peace is a 2024 American drama based on the life of Robert DeShaun Peace, a gifted young man from Newark who earns a place at Yale University. Raised by his mother, Jackie, while his father, Skeet, serves a prison sentence for a killing he insists he did not commit, Rob studies molecular biophysics and biochemistry on a scholarship. His loyalty to his father pulls him back toward Newark and the world he grew up in, and he begins selling marijuana to raise money for his father's legal appeals. The two sides of his life — the academic laboratory and the streets — place him between worlds he cannot easily keep apart.

Chiwetel Ejiofor directs and wrote the screenplay, his second feature behind the camera after The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, and he also appears as Skeet. Jay Will plays Rob, with Mary J. Blige as Jackie, Camila Cabello as Naya, Michael Kelly as Edwin Leahy and Mare Winningham as Professor Durham.

The film runs two hours and was produced by Participant, Los Angeles Media Fund, Hill District Media and 25 Stories, with Andrea Calderwood, Alex Kurtzman and Antoine Fuqua among the producers. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from around 2,800 votes, while on TMDB it rates 6.9 from fewer than a hundred votes.
