Dear Wendy
Short description
In a small American mining town, a lonely teenager named Dick finds a revolver and develops a strong attachment to it. Despite his commitment to pacifism, he forms a secret club called the Dandies with other marginalized youth. The group shares a passion for firearms while adhering to a strict code that forbids the use of their weapons. The dynamics shift when the group welcomes Sebastian, the grandson of Dick's nanny, Clarabelle. As the Dandies attempt to protect Clarabelle from local threats, circumstances eventually force them to abandon their pacifist principles.
Directed by Thomas Vinterberg, this film followed his 1998 work The Celebration. The screenplay was written by Lars von Trier. The cast features Jamie Bell as Dick Dandelion, alongside Bill Pullman, Michael Angarano, Danso Gordon, Novella Nelson, and Chris Owen. Produced by companies including Zentropa Entertainments and ARTE France Cinéma, the movie had a budget of 50 million USD.
